Abstract

This paper aims to reconstitute the dimensions of Juscelino Kubitschek’s notion of progress which is presented in his Speeches, and Messages to the National Congress. It is highlighted that the use of this notion in Brazil expresses a search for transformations arising from the second industrial revolution. Therefore, after a brief Introduction, the article presents The main dimensions of Juscelino Kubitschek’s notion of progress which are: medical-sanitary, educational progress, technical and scientific progress, industrial progress, and regional progress. In the Final Remarks, Juscelino Kubitschek's dimensions of progress were presented as an expression of a historical moment in which there were positive expectations about the future. Beyond that, the period under review is shown as a future past which demarcates a State’s performance type in the structural transformation of Brazilian society.
